Senior Intelligence Officer

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Intelligence Officer to Actively liaise with stakeholders and functional units across the SCC to gather intelligence and strengthen intelligence products within Emergency Management Victoria.
About the Business Unit
Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).
The purpose of the Operational Coordination business unit is to lead the emergency operational coordination in Victoria by working with communities, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
EMV's intelligence team is based at the State Control Centre (SCC) and supports the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC) by providing timely, relevant and actionable intelligence to support evidence-informed decision making and planning to ensure safer and more resilient communities.
About the Role
Members of the intelligence team may work across various intelligence functions at the SCC, including monitoring and situational awareness, operational or strategic intelligence analysis and intelligence enhancement roles. Your duties will involve providing intelligence necessary to support the overall state intelligence picture, including:

  • Contribute to the production of written intelligence products which inform and support tactical, operational and strategic decision making.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with key stakeholders
  • Contribute to the collection, identification, and assessment of information to produce intelligence.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in intelligence and analytics activities including forecasting, monitoring and trend assessment utilising a range of technologies within a sensitive and confidential environment.
  • Understanding of geospatial mapping and predictive services in an emergency management context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate intelligence and/or mapping discipline (such as Strategic Analysis or Geographical Information Systems) is desirable.
